Ever have to repeat the same story to multiple doctors?
Tired of filling out the same forms over and over again?
Have trouble remembering your medical history? Your
young child's medical history? Your ill parent's medical
history? Ever struggled to get a copy of your own medical
records?
The GRHID Platform ends all of that by providing two
key functions:
- It enables your doctors to share information with
each other. When you go from one doctor to the next,
your current information goes right along with you
automatically.
- It enables your doctors to share information with
you. If you so choose, you can plug your own PHR (Personal
Health Record) system into your doctors' network and
send information to them or download your most current
information (much like you would use Quicken to download
financial information from your bank).
What this means to you as a patient
- Safety. When you visit a doctor,
he or she has complete, current information on you
so the chances of making a mistake are minimized.
For example - ER physicians and paramedics will be
able to pull up your information in seconds even if
you are unable to communicate, and pharmacists will
be able to check prescriptions against your complete
allergy and medication lists to reduce the chances
of an adverse reaction to a new medication.
- Convenience. You'll spend less time filling
out forms and repeating the same story to different
doctors. You can also send information to your doctor
that you used to have to deliver over the phone or
in person, and you won't have to wait to get a copy
of your medical records.
- Empowerment. Tracking your own information
means you will be more informed about your own health
status, allowing you to co-manage your health and
participate actively in decisions about your care.
By having a better understanding of your health status,
you will have more effective communications with your
doctor.
- Improved Health. Better continuity of care,
fewer mistakes, and more active participation in your
care all lead to better health. You will also have
the ability to manage chronic diseases more effectively
by delivering real time information about your condition
to your physician, who can monitor your health more
closely. Because your doctor has a more complete picture
of your health, they can also send you reminders about
preventive treatment, so you don't get sick.
- Lower Costs. Fewer visits to the doctor mean
lower costs for you. In the future, insurance companies
may even reduce premiums for patients that use healthcare
information technology to manage their health.
